Graduation Day

Brenton with Dee Dee and Poppa

Congratulations to our Brenton, Class of 2008!

A Blog is Born

As I am getting ready for a business trip to Bangkok (with perhaps the funniest man at B&V, Scott Harman), I was encouraged to create a blog to share details of my trip and pictures to keep my coworkers entertained in my absence. After getting my last Scott email with tips regarding Bangkok, I felt I must start as I was laughing already.
  • Tip 1 - Do not under any circumstance bring up "The King and I." I found this comical because I never would have thought of it, but once it was mentioned, decided that starting the training sessions with a rousing chorus of "Getting to Know You" would have been a clever idea. Darn the luck.
  • Don't spit at monks - As I try not to spit at all, I found this tip rather odd. Hmm. Best to leave all chewing tobacco at home.
  • Do not eat with your fingers or lick your fingers in the presence of Thais - As fearful as I am of eating anything (after my bout with live typhoid), I'm not really thinking my fingers would be a better idea. Good thing, obviously.
  • Stray dogs are everywhere, do not provoke them - hopefully, they aren't like Missy and Hannah and think I am just "the lady that has food." Otherwise, I will be sightseeing with a pack of dog following me everywhere (how embarrassing would that be?)
  • Do not under any circumstance touch a Thais head - This just gave me hope that perhaps they are short like me and I won't have to look up all the time as it implies I could reach someones head (could be a first) - not really in the habit of touching other people's head though so wonder why this tip was included.

That was my second lesson from Mr. Harman, my first being something about how to address people and not offend them. I fully intend on keeping my mouth shut and following Scott's lead. Hope I don't have to sneeze as that might shut down the office for good (All those on the first floor of P building can relate to that statement).

More updates as I get them.
