Shelby Bowls Her Best Series at High School League

Coach Aaron worked some magic yesterday - the result being Shelby bowling her best series ever today - 636! She beat Henry Haake (Sun Bowler of the Year), who as one of the team captains of Raider bowling, expects her to do this every game now. Shelby of course is more than willing to try. Way to go, Shelbs!

Big Sack in Spring Game

Spring game time at OU today. The highlight of course was Brenton (No. 8) sacking his buddy, JJ, for a loss (the defense gets point for interceptions, stops for losses, and sacks). Brenton almost had another sack on the next play but was held and missed by inches. Coach Homolka (Defensive Coordinator) came up to us after the game and complimented Brenton on his sack. It was great fun to watch! Go Braves!

Pictures from Murfreesboro

Martha sent some pictures of the aftermath. The first two pictures are at her house - the second two are other houses on their street.

What's even more amazing is that Baxter was out on the screened-in porch throughout all this. As he has never been the bravest of beasts - he will probably have doggy nightmares for weeks.

Happy Easter to All

Hope everyone had a great Easter. We had everyone over for dinner and are now trying to digest it all. Brenton and Carly are heading back to school and I am heading to catch the Rock of Love Bus Finale (thinking of you, Ashleigh).

Family and Friends are Safe

Our thoughts go out to family and friends for surviving the Murfreesboro tornado yesterday. I talked to Martha last night and she was the administrator on call at the hospital at the time. Needless to say, she spent the day in disaster mode, trying to keep in touch with Larry and his mom while making sure the patients and hospital were okay. There home is okay (be it without power) but the house 200 yards aways was completely destroyed. Martha and Larry were cooking by candlelight last night (luckily most of their appliance are gas). I'm sure she will send pictures when thing settle down. It is rather ironic that she has lived through more tornados while in Tennessee, than the entire time she lived in Kansas. Thank goodness they are okay! Here's hoping everyone has a safe and Happy Easter!

Hail the Mighty Hunter

Tim bagged his first turkey today on a hunting expedition to St. Mary's, Kansas with cousin, Bob Byrnes. After getting up at 2:30 in the morning (I guess turkeys are early risers - unlike some people), the deed was done at 7:05! Shelby is terrified of the turkey beard and tail (which Tim is making into an art project), I am proud, and my co-workers are hoping he doesn't go again as I couldn't go back to sleep after he left and was therefore incredibly sleep deprived and cranky all day. I am sure Hannah and Missy would have loved to go, but alas, no dogs allowed on the hunt. I will have to post pictures of the final art project when it is finished. Had I only known he was so good at it, I would have suggested he take a gun to my sister's house as she had turkeys roaming around all over the place (much to Baxter's chagrin). Quite an impressive bird - Way to go, Tim!

213 Crew defeated in Final Four

The 213 Crew had four great games, making it all the way to the final four. Unfortunately, they got defeated by the team that ended up winning it all (mainly because they were the masters of stalling). It was a rather crappy way to end the tournament; however, we all were ever so proud of our boys. Not too shabby for their first attempt (they made it further than KU). They played an 80's hair band team (complete with wigs, makeup, and beer breaks) - they were quite entertaining but not very good. Luckily, spring football starts Tuesday so maybe the boys can look forward to hitting something.

1st Place Discus vs SME

Shelby was awesome at the JV meet today versus Shawnee Mission East. She won 1st place in discus with a throw of 72 feet!! She has improved a great deal since last year (all the bowling with a 15 pound ball probably helped her get stronger). Unfortunately, I forgot my camera (I get really nervous around track meets - I'm always looking out for flying javelins and jump a foot in the air every time they shoot the starter pistol - Alas). I think I will put Tim in charge of taking track pictures since all those years of hunting made him immune to the sound of guns. Shelby is going to help out at the Varsity match tomorrow with marking times. She is looking forward to the next meet, next Thursday, April 9th at SM North. Go Raiders!
